THE PAINTER OF THE YEAR SUPREME WINNER 2021...WHARFEDALE DECORATIONS LTD
The Supreme Winner award was presented to Wharfedale Decorations Ltd, for its work on the Turkish Baths in Harrogate – one of only seven Turkish Baths remaining in the UK.
Wharfedale Decorations Ltd were tasked by Harrogate Borough Council to restore the original beauty of the Turkish Baths – a building that’s importance lies in its decoration, elaboration and rarity. The project included remaking the historical stencils and patterns that have stood within the baths for more than 100 years, a job that was guided by only patterns on the walls as the previous stencils were too damaged to be used.
The Johnstone’s Painter of the Year judges commented on how Wharfedale's careful work reflected a true understanding of the heritage of the building.
The team were rewarded with a brand-new personalised van from PPG as congratulations for taking home the Supreme Winner title.
